Fermitron
Tympanic Thermometer Tester
The TTT has become a valuable asset for biomedical engineers performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of infra-red style tympanic and skin surface electronic thermometers. Fermitron has led the industry when it comes to testing infra-red thermometers from various vendors or manufacturers with a portable device. The TTT is available through a network of distributors, who can be contacted for all sales and service enquires.
History
Fermitron story
Fermitron Pty Ltd developed the original TTT ("Triple T") short for Tympanic Thermometer Tester, in Australia in 1999.
The business name Fermitron, was created after the Director, Robert Di Pierro (B.App.Sc) was
inspired by physicists such as Enrico Fermi, during his university studies in Medical Biophysics & Scientific Instrumentation.
Fermitron produced its first production model in 2001.

Overview
Technology
Tympanic Thermometer Tester
The TTT is a new innovation in biomedical test equipment. It incorporates three, infrared radiation sources, to test tympanic thermometers at different temperatures: 34.0, 37.0 & 40.0 degrees Celsius. The TTT has been designed to assure the correct performance of tympanic thermometers. The TTT can verify if the tympanic thermometer under test, is functioning correctly, with a device accuracy of +/- 0.1 Degrees C.
How accurate are your thermometers ???
This new product is of great benefit to ‘In-house’ Bio-med’s, Third Party Service Providers, Hospital Maintenance Depts & O.E.M’s, as it brings many advantages, for example, saving time & money and of course, compliance with AS/NZS:3551 - In-Service Testing of Essential Performance Parameters and other international performance standards.
Up until now, it was difficult to confirm accuracy, as a multi-mode, a portable thermometer tester was not available. The TTT will eliminate doubt and provide peace of mind. Clinical staff can have more confidence in Tympanic and other Infra-Red Thermometer readings, as suspect units can be tested in seconds with high accuracies.
The TTT is operated on battery or mains power, hence it is very portable and efficient to use. Thermometers can be tested on-site, eliminating unnecessary downtime. With more than seven different operating modes, including modes for the most popular tympanic thermometers available, the TTT gives the user a great deal of flexibility.
The TTT is also upgradable, maximizing the return of investment.
